You Lay Beside Me,
The egg of your mouth
In full roundness, the crescent
Of your lips is
Soft
As the seamless shells of the sea.
And there also,
The trees flutter their leaves
As you, your dreams, and I turn over
In your sleepy head.
The long beach of your side
Of soft rows and turrets,
Magnificent castles
At every intersection in vertices
To my body next door;
My eyes are the treasures
That hold your bountiful nature.
Your birth and life were born
For me to see.
Every morning,
I love you with sunshine and the wind
Kisses your head the same way
The sun
Holds us together in a basket.
And again tonight, mine
Tonight I feel as if I’m falling asleep
Beside you
Under ancient blue heavens
And warm clouds as your breath
Is mine.
You are as green water
To the gray fish. The sunlight that Has dried me
Is you, you saved my body
From the dark ocean.
To feel the grasses of your hands
Grow around my pearled chest
Is just the shell of your greatness.
In your light, the waters sparkle
As you turn, thousands of
Diamonds fall to any depth
In any multiples they can be
Under your shining sun.
And so it is the peace
Of your body in rest beside mine
That makes my body yours,
And my heart beats as
A bird’s soft wing,
Eating all air it can hold,
Just as
You are mine.
What do I remember about you
Love that holds me in a shell:
I remember your teardrop eyes
Crying out to mine for me to know
That your river flows bubbling and sings for me. I remember the curve that leads to your mouth,
Your buckled lip sliced in half to cave
Strong pearls your teeth above your resting tongue.
I remember your jaw, sometimes soft as straw or seaweed grass
In a tilt shyly towards my neck, sometimes raging tight like the shoulders of a bull when your hands tie down mine.
But your eyes, like their own pearls, blinking, change your emotions and bring me a tightness and a blossom in my chest. They bite me forward,
Hold me
Draw me in and down, turn me
From seeing to feeling air and colour,
rattling weeping wind between your cavity and my body. Your eyes Love
Are the circular pools to mine that make me an existent.
I have become so aware of the fact
That you hold me, that my hands
Have evolved through love
As yours, and your soft breathing
Now leaves from my mouth.
